With its new inline inspection system ProfilControl 7 RubberFlex, PIXARGUS is showing an entirely new system approach in Shanghai. This smart inline system for the inspection of rubber profiles belongs to PIXARGUS’ new, modular ProfilControl 7 XLine series. It has been tailored specifically to the requirements of the rubber extrusion sector with a clear focus on maximized efficiency. “ProfilControl 7 RubberFleX provides a combination of hardware and software that is just perfect – not more and not less,” says PIXARGUS sales manager, Michael Frohn.

ProfilControl 7 RubberFlex is ready to cope with the highly exacting quality requirements of the automotive industry. It handles the quality control of elastic, variable and filigree rubber profiles of simple and medium complexity with ease. The new, modular sensor head design of the ProfilControl 7 RubberFleX dispenses with an all-round housing and a hinged cover. The open sensor plate with a predefined hole pattern makes it possible to flexibly position the optical sensors and freely configure it with up to 8 highly specialized cameras. Thus, all areas of the profiles that will later be visible can be continuously and completely captured.
High-performer for impeccable surfaces and perfect dimensional accuracy
While up to 700 high-performance LEDs produce a homogeneous illumination field with maximal light yield, the ProfilControl software reliably filters out any interfering external light effects. ProfilControl 7 RubberFleX checks the contour, distances, angles, radii, heights, widths, thicknesses and clamping dimensions, and detects even the smallest specks, holes, scratches, bubbles, cracks, color deviations, etc. Defects and defect sources in the production process are recognized at a very early stage, minimizing the risk of out-of-spec production. The objective of this approach is to ensure impeccable surfaces and perfect dimensional accuracy.
Quality assurance in the smartest way
The system’s intelligent software is key in making ProfilControl 7 XLine a high-performer. It forms the basis for the intuitive operation of the system and the time-saving automated inspection processes. Focused analysis functions enhance the effectiveness of defect tracking. Also on board: Various new smart assistance functions, such as a function that supports the operator in setting up the inspection process for products with varying surfaces. The optimal roughness value is now proposed by the system, reducing the manual effort for the operator to zero.

ProfilControl 7 RubberFlex is available as a turnkey system for standard applications in rubber profile extrusion and designed to be flexibly extended. Depending on what the customer wishes, the inline system is laid out to perform dimension measurement or surface inspection – or both functions combined, as an All-in-One solution for complete all-round inspection. The standard equipment includes an external 21.5” multi-touch monitor, a mobile support frame, and the encoder. The system is also available on request for numerous special applications, such as smart hole and flocking inspection, variable extrusion, and defect density management (DDM).
